Peter Marcus Really Cares For Carers
Peter Marcus hairdressers in Manchester city centre took part in National Carers Week this week by hosting a fabulous day of carefree pampering to support and recognise the carers of the North West. On the 14th June, Peter Marcus gave carers the chance to let their hair down and put their feet up by closing the doors to the public and opening the salon only to them.
The Peter Marcus team gave them a free day of pampering with hair styling, cuts and colouring, whatever they wanted.
Peter and Marcus were more than happy to help when they were approached by Carers UK to see if they could contribute in any way. Peter Usher, co-owner of Peter Marcus explained, “We wanted these ladies to be placed on a pedestal today as it is all about them and their needs. We made sure no one would leave the salon without looking fabulous and feeling refreshed as, let’s face it they all deserve it”.
The salon also teamed up with ‘Good Hands’, a new team of mobile sports massage specialists, who really gave their guests a further treat. As well as a fabulous hair treatment, they had the opportunity to have their troubles eased with a professional back, neck and head massage.
Claire Wilman, organiser of National Carers Week commented, “Carers never have time for themselves as they are constantly worrying about the needs of someone else. These individuals are unpaid and over looked in society so it is important for carers to be recognised. A lot of the time they feel isolated and alone so it is nice to get everyone together”.
Michele Day, one of the guest carers said, “It is nice to be pampered for a change as you usually do not get time for yourself as you are generally with the person we are looking after. Even when you are not with them you are constantly thinking about them and how they are doing … it is tough”.
