Little Princess Trust Hair Donation
We are delighted to be working with a fabulous charity, the Little Princess Trust, who provide real-hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls throughout the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
The wigs are tailored to the individual child and the charity works closely with families, hospitals, hair salons and the wig maker to produce a bespoke wig for each child. These wigs can have a retail price of up to £2,000 each and so the charity also encourages fundraising as much as hair donation.
We’re supporting the charity by becoming an official hair donation salon. This doesn’t mean we will automatically send all the hair that is cut and swept up in the salon; the process is a little more complicated than that.
First of all, we would need to get your permission to donate your hair, so you can rest assured we won’t be sending your hair anywhere if you are not comfortable with the idea.
We also have to bear in mind the strict guidelines from the wig makers. For example, the minimum hair donation length is 7″/17cm.
Other criteria for suitable hair donation are:
- Clean hair in good condition from males and females, and of any colour
- Straight or curly
- Containing the odd grey hair (less than 10%)
- Coloured, bleached/highlighted
- Layered (shortest layer must be 7″/17cm
When popstar Jessie J shaved her head for Comic Relief last year, she donated her hair the Little Princess Trust charity. If you’re interested in following suit and would like to know more about donating you hair through Peter Marcus, please call us on 0161 834 1422. One of our team would be happy to answer any questions you’ve got about the donation process.
